I was a (kinda) normal stay-at-home mom for over 10 years. When my 13+ year relationship ended, though, it completely changed the way I looked at sexuality, monogamy, sex, and sex work in general.
I realized I had spent far too long feeling uptight and confined by beliefs about sex, marriage, monogamy, and escorting that, if I were being completely honest, weren’t even entirely my own. A lot of the way I viewed those things came from inexperience, naivety, and, honestly, plain ignorance. I was judging things I had never experienced for myself.
So I decided to stop being so judgmental, stop being so buttoned-up, and stop worrying so much about what other people thought of me. I wanted to experience life for myself instead of letting other people’s expectations dictate what I was supposed to want, feel, or believe.
I had spent a huge portion of my adult life sexually repressed, neglected, and disconnected from that part of myself. I had never really had an adventurous, fulfilling sex life, and I eventually realized there was a whole side of myself I had never allowed myself to explore.
And then I discovered something pretty simple: if I could have fun, explore my sexuality, connect with people, and make money doing it, why the hell would I pass that up?
I had spent some time as an exotic dancer in my earlier years. I decided that making money by entertaining men wasn’t actually as foreign to me as I initially thought. Once I stepped into this world, I also realized that there was nothing inherently “dirty” or “bad” about sex work. A lot of the judgment I had once attached to it came from assumptions and inexperience rather than anything I had actually experienced for myself.
I’ve always been genuinely interested in people—their stories, personalities, experiences, desires, and the things that make them who they are. I came to realize that my natural curiosity, empathy, and desire to make people feel comfortable and understood could translate surprisingly well into this line of work.
Is this my forever plan? Probably not. I don’t see escorting as the final destination of my life. I see it as a chapter—a chapter that has taught me a lot about myself, other people, sexuality, relationships, and life in general.
I plan to keep working on myself, figuring out what I truly want, and building a career for my future. And honestly, I’m excited to see where that takes me.
